Health Maintenance Organizations Services

With over a decade of experience in the operations of Health Maintenance Organization, Lionstone Healthcare Partners offers consulting and advisory services to HMOs in the following areas:

  1. Health service provider contracting;
  2. Benefit package design and premium pricing;
  3. Fee schedule, reimbursement methodologies and incentive systems development, and implementation;
  4. Claims process re-engineering for expedited turnaround and accuracy. LHP will review existing claims process to ensure accuracy of payment, data capture and electronic tracking of all payments, improved turnaround of claims and capitation payments;

Hospital Information Management Systems

It is becoming increasingly evident that when providers and their patients readily have access and use of health information, made possible by Information Technology (IT) systems and hardware, the potential to improve the quality, safety and efficiency of health care increases exponentially. Lionstone Healthcare Partners recognizes the importance of IT in healthcare delivery and will work closely with interested hospitals to define the most efficient IT systems within a resource-constrained environment.
IT investment is often significant and complex whilst requiring a significant change in attitude, which goes beyond acquiring technology to changing work processes and cultures, and ensuring that physicians, nurses, and other staff use it. It is however critical that investment is made in appropriate technology peculiar to each hospital.
Lionstone advisory expertise includes the following areas:

  1. Administrative and financial systems that facilitate billing, accounting, and other administrative tasks e.g. Patient Registration;

Lionstone Healthcare Partners will aid evaluation and selection of hospital systems including:

  1. Electronic health record (EHR): EHRs are electronic file cabinet for patient data from various sources;
  2. Computerized provider order entry (CPOE): CPOE is a medication ordering and fulfillment system;
  3. Clinical decision support system (CDSS): CDSS provides physicians and nurses with real-time diagnostic and treatment recommendations. The term covers a variety of technologies ranging from simple alerts and prescription drug interaction warnings to full clinical pathways and protocols;
  4. Picture archiving and communications system (PACS): Captures and integrates diagnostic and radiological images from various devices (e.g., x-ray, MRI, computed tomography scan), stores them, and disseminates them to a medical record or points of care;
  5. Interoperability: This concept refers to electronic communication among organizations so that the data in one IT system can be incorporated into another. Interoperability focuses on development of standards for content; and
  6. Electronic materials management (EMM): Health care organizations use EMM to track and manage inventory of medical supplies, pharmaceuticals, and other materials.

Bio of Lionstone Healthcare Partner Managing Director


Njide Ndili is the Chief Executive Officer of Lionstone Healthcare Partners, a company focused on providing Healthcare Information Technology to healthcare organizations in Africa. For several years she was the Chief Executive Officer of Hygeia Community Health Plan and Chief Operating officer for Hygeia HMO, both affiliates of Hygeia Nigeria Limited, a hospital and healthcare management company. For over a decade, Njide held senior management positions in large Health Maintenance organizations in the United States, including CIGNA Healthcare and Independence Blue Cross.

Her various roles over the last decade have focused on technology systems and upgrades in various capacities. She has assisted several organisations, including hospitals, in re-engineering business processes and adopting information technology to achieve efficiency and cost saving. With Hygeia Community Health Plan, she collaborated closely with the Health Insurance Fund and PharmAccess International, both Dutch NGO to upgrade several clinics in Lagos State and Kwara States in Nigeria in an effort to improve the quality of care delivered to low income communities.

Njide is also the Secretary for the Society for Quality in Healthcare in Nigeria, an organisation whose activities are aimed at building capacity in the healthcare industry in Nigeria, and facilitating alliances with international healthcare quality organizations towards improvement in healthcare quality. She is a member of the Society’s Programmes Committee responsible for organizing conferences, workshops and seminars.

Njide is a graduate of the INSEAD Advanced Management Programme and an MBA from the University of Houston, with a concentration in Management Information Systems (MIS) and Finance. She also has a Post Graduate Diploma in Finance and a B. Sc. in Computer Science from the University of Nigeria.
