Missing Link Motorway Company
Lionstone Infrastructure Group has been working with Lagos State Government for over 3 years to build a connecting bridge called the missing link that would open up Lagos in a unique manner.

Background and Impetus for a 4th Mainland Bridge
Lagos is one of the 36 states in Nigeria, covering a total area of 357,700 Hectares and is the smallest state in Nigeria, however it has an estimated population of 15 million people and projected at 22 million by 2020.
- It is the commercial capital of Nigeria
- Head offices of major financial services organizations and diplomatic missions.
- Approximately 65% of the country’s industrial and commercial establishments
- Virtually all blue chip global companies operating in Nigeria.
- Home to the nation’s major sea ports and airport
Due to its cosmopolitan nature, Lagos experiences a very high rate of net urban migration from other states in Nigeria and neighbouring West African countries. Due to inadequately planned road patterns, there is only 1 real route into the CBD from the North and 1 route in from the East. These 2 routes are over-faxed, poorly maintained and clearly inadequate. Traffic backs-up for upwards of 3 hours, causing commuter “nightmares”. There is no “loop” around the city to distribute traffic more evenly. Project “Missing Link” seeks to substantially alter Road Travel Patterns, significantly increase “road mileage” and open up new, vital extremely valuable areas of the city at no cost to the government.

The Project Description
The Project involves reclamation of a strip of land spanning the lagoon, from Langbasa in Lekki to Baiyeku in Ikorodu, with dual navigation channel for continued marine traffic, marine life and lagoon water flow. Each of the channels will be 1km wide. The strip of reclaimed land will be approximately 4.9 Km in length with an additional 120 hectares to be reclaimed in a configuration of 1km x 1.2km. The Project Promoters intend to construct a 6 lane Motorway traversing the entire length of the reclaimed land, including the 2 cable suspension bridges spanning each of the navigation channels.
Two (2) lane side roads each will be constructed parallel to the expressway, providing for access to the reclaimed lands. Each “channel” will have a Suspended Bridge – at approximately 10m above water level – which is a height comparable to the existing 3rd mainland bridge. The Suspended Bridges will act as a symbol to a “new” and “reinvigorated” Lagos. The Bridge has been designed by Office of Metropolitan Architects (‘OMA’) under the supervision of Rem Cool Haas, one of the foremost architects of this century.
